on the other hand, better support for cheap SCSI adapter would not
be a bad thing. At leas here you either get the $40 scsi cards (e.g. i
have one Advansys and one 53Csomething, unfortunately not a supported
model) which usually come with scanners or CD writers, or the
various adaptecs which cost from $150 upwards.

for driving a low throughput device e.g. a scanner i'd rather not have
to use a 2940 as i am doing now...
