I started out defining everything in the kernel for USB except networking and storage devices. Then, I made and installed my kernel. I found my USB devices using usbdevs and all I had to do to add the mouse was add usbd_enable="YES" # Run the usbd daemon. to my rc.conf. In thinking back, I would disable moused and add the usbd_enable to rc.conf before I booted my new kernel. After that, it just worked.
