Thanks, that did the trick! By the way, why do I have to set the environment
variables then, as recommended by the fdp-primer?  It seems that they don't
affect the build. I'm specifically talking about SGML_CATALOG_FILES.

Probably, the patch works for me, and I've seen someone else on -questions
with the same problem. The patch should at least be applied.
