Software comes with its own set of build instructions normally, and other than rewriting those instructions for each port (_way_ _way_ too much work!!) there's very little we can do if they don't handle errors correctly. It's a little bit easier to handle if the problem is during the install phase, but still not worthwhile. What we can do, however, is include information with each port on how much hdd space it will _probably_ take-up. It looks like this is going to happen (eventually). It may be worthwhile including an estimate of how much space is required to just "build" a port, but that's even more difficult to estimate than installed size (because of temp files). -- This .sig is not innovative, witty, or profund.
