Uh-oh.  An ILLEGAL REQUEST is not supposed to happen on a hard disk.

The ASC of 0x9c is in the vendor-specific range, so you gotta bug
Quantum for its exact meaning.

You could compile the driver with SCSIDEBUG turned on and enable
debugging by

	scsi -f /dev/rsd0.ctl -d <some number Julian will explain to you :)>

and have a closer look at the reported error.
