I think that a certain amount of recognition of these points would
not be a bad thing. The integrity of the philosophy is reflected in the 
integrity of the software.

Agree. But let's not soft-pedal it TOO much. To quote an old, old poem:

The codfish lays 10,000 eggs;
The common hen lays one.
The codfish never cackles
To tell us what she's done.

And so we scorn the codfish,
While the noble hen we prize....
Which only goes to show you
That it pays to advertise.
