Adobe's fonts work just fine. I've been using Adobe *.pfb's for the past 5 or so years with gs. Monotype, et. al., are also good. Ghostsctipt is better and more robust than a number of commercial RIPs I've worked with. You will nearly always see a performance improvement on HPs by using gs to convert to PCL.
