I had to write a commendation letter to all programmers concerned with
putting together the 4.8 verison of FreeBSD. Great job, all of you!

Transition from 4.7 was glitchless and smooth. There's lots of things that
work better, most noticeably the ability of DRI to stay alive if I start X
more than once between boots (using ATI Rage 128 RF AGP with the r128
driver). Couldn't do that with 4.7 - it was good for one X session per
identity, then I had to reboot.

That's basically it; wanted to write and let y'all know that your hard work
is well appreciated on this end.
