Greetings Chang, I seem to remember that the foundation's charter and possibly some subsequent correspondence indicated that the trade mark was going to be transfered to them for protection. On top of which I was under the impression that neither WR nor BSDI actually owned the trademark, but that an employee working on the project for BSDI, then WR indeed did. I know that this is rather off topic, but I'd wager that some one else out there would know for sure... cheers, m ps: http://people.freebsd.org/~jdp/foundation/announcement.html Chang Hsu wrote: > Hi! > > i submitted this article to docs@freebsd.org following the instructions > on http://www.freebsd.org/news/press.html page, so that someone can add > it to the November 2001 list. > > about WR, i thought the whole thing was kinda sad. all i know is that > they have been talking about transferring the TM, but people working > with WR would know better. > > thanks! > > -chang > > -----Original Message----- > From: Mikel King [mailto:mikel@ocsinternet.com] > Sent: Friday, November 09, 2001 5:09 AM > To: doc@FreeBSD.ORG > Cc: Chang Hsu > Subject: Re: BSD article at InfoWorld > > Just curious, but I thought the FreeBSD trademark had been transfered to > The FreeBSD Foundation, or was that another WR lie...? > > Chang Hsu wrote: > > > you probably already know... > > > > http://www.infoworld.com/articles/tc/xml/01/11/05/011105tcbsd.xml > > > > EXECUTIVE SUMMARY > > BSD is a mature operating system with a spotless track record for > > stability and security.
