It was my understanding at the time (4 wks ago) you needed to be running
at least -stable to use the 3.5 sound driver, I upgraded at that point.

At some point I determined -current was the only way to go and made that
hurdle.
Now it seems vat runs fairly well talking to an sgi on the local network,
which we are fortunate to have available for testing. The SGI runs the binary
frm LBL, if it can't talk to that then I don't know what can.
