This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01C068A7.E9872830 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable hi. i bought freebsd and ive been trying to install it on my machine. i run an amd 1000MHz processor with a 40G hard drive. the problem ive been having over and over is 'no free inodes' when i try to install all the packages from the 1st cd rom in the set. after trying to have it live on the last 20Gs of space, and having no luck getting it to boot back there, i moved it to the front 20Gs. if i try to install all the packages there, i get 'no free inodes' i did get it up and running once, from a standard install. im also having trouble getting it and windows 2000 to like being on the same disk. your boot manager doesnt seem to see beyond a certain point. it lists windows 2000 as ??? when i go to boot. if i try to choose ??? to boot into, with windows 2000 on the last=20 20G, it wont let me. if windows 2000 lives in the first 20G,=20 and BSD on the last 20G, windows is still listed as ???, i can boot into it, but then i cant boot into BSD. i'm running the 4.0 release. granted i'm not 100% sure of every step i'm taking with BSD since i'm new to the whole *ix scene, but i=20 wouldn't think a 650MB cd could fill a 20G hard drive. That would be some awesome compression... 30:1 by my calculations, so i'm sure somethings wrong. i'm going to try to install 4.2 here in a bit. i'm kind of bummed. i paid 50$ for the BSD and 0$ for windows 2000 server, and windows is the only OS i have to write you this email in so far. thanks jerry ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01C068A7.E9872830 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2920.0" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>hi.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>i bought freebsd and ive been trying to = install it=20 on my machine.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>i run an amd 1000MHz processor with a = 40G hard=20 drive.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>the problem ive been having over and = over is 'no=20 free inodes'</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>when i try to install all the packages = from the 1st=20 cd rom in the</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>set. after trying to have it live = on the last=20 20Gs of space, and having</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>no luck getting it to boot back there, = i moved it=20 to the front 20Gs.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>if i try to install all the packages = there, i get=20 'no free inodes'</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>i did get it up and running once, from = a standard=20 install.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>im also having trouble getting it and = windows 2000=20 to like being</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>on the same disk. your boot = manager doesnt=20 seem to see</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>beyond a certain point. it = lists windows=20 2000 as ??? when i go to boot.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>if i try to choose ??? to boot into, = with windows=20 2000 on the last </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>20G, it wont let = me. </FONT><FONT=20 face=3DArial size=3D2>if windows 2000 lives in the first 20G, = </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>and BSD on the last 20G, </FONT><FONT = face=3DArial=20 size=3D2>windows is still listed as ???, i can</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>boot into it, but then i cant = </FONT><FONT=20 face=3DArial size=3D2>boot into BSD.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>i'm running the 4.0 release. = granted i'm=20 not 100% sure of every step</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>i'm taking with BSD since i'm new to = the whole *ix=20 scene, but i </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>wouldn't think a 650MB cd could fill a = 20G hard=20 drive.
