Arggh!  Mea Culpa - I apologize for wasting your time like this.  (I 
hate it when people do this with my own code :-)  The code was a 
little out-of-date because it's running on a slow CPU, and 
recompiling the kernel on it (cross-compiling is not an option in 
this case) takes a long time.  But I'll try rebuilding a newer 
version now, and see if it fixes the "ath0: device timeout" problems.
