The simplest is to use telnet: telnet www.jp.freebsd.org 80 One never really seems to get connected. (Most sites work OK of course, but I occasionally stumple over problematic sites. I have no idea what signifies problematic sites.) The same connection works great with the same hardware and FreeBSD configuration when connected directly to the Internet.
