We often use the ugly standardese "The foo command" instead of "Foo".
E.g., in cat.1, we use
The cat utility ...
The cat utility ...
A cat command ...
... cat(1)
but we never use plain `cat' in English sentences in cat.1. The V7 man
page is less stilted. Its DESCRIPTION section begins with
Cat reads ...
where `Cat' is in italics.
For functions, "The foo() function" is even uglier, since `()' says that
it's a function.
