sendmail-8.8.8 has been running fine for more than 2 years now
without modifications ... today at 2PM EDT, the maillog file stopped
logging entries ... reboot the server ... works fine for about 1 hour
and them it stopped again

cannot determine what is causing the problem ... thus cannot manually
repeat the problem ... however over a short time it repeats again
