The problem is solved. The BT 956 can be configured to be isa 
compatible in PCI mode, which probably confused FreeBSD 
2.2-960612-SNAP and 2.1.5 but not 
2.1.0. Disabling the default ISA-compatibility did the trick.

Thank you Justin for pointing out the cause of the problem, ISA. 
However disabling bt during boot didn't help.
