Hello,

We use freebsd OS for all of our existing servers. I need to buy some
more. In the past, we have purchased components and had a computer place
put them together for us. Consequently, we usually had hardware
compatibility problems with freebsd which drives me crazy. Expecially
the latest dual processor issue that seems to have not gotten resolved
over the past few months in this forum. So our latest server is still a
one chip instead of dual chip server.

This time, I prefer not to have these problems! Instead of buying one
fat big server, I would like to buy a bunch of thin ones.

We need to split out certain functions among multiple servers. The
following three items need to be spread over a few servers each.

1. Sending email. This is only about sending emails out using postfix.
And dealing with bouncebacks.
2. http posts to our tracking server. This is for our C program that
tracks everything.
3. Database backend - mysql. This is for storing data for our systems.
Where many people access and use at once.

Total number of boxes about 10. 4 for #1, 3 each for #2 and #3 above.

Can someone who has experience in putting together a server farm and has
done this before refer us to a place where we can get what we are
looking for at a good price? We have our own rack, Cisco 24 port switch
and can hook this right into it. To add extra capacity I would like to
be able to purchase more of the same exact boxes in and plug them in.
Server is located in Vienna, Virginia.

Prefer to have the freebsd OS and libraries installed for us onto each
server. We can provide the specs on configuration if needed.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Stephen Karrington
