If i exit x = the screen goes to a bunch of crazy letters and numbers and i lose = control. if i try to halt the computer from x after the screen blanks = out it goes to the crazy letters and numbers and freezes. I've tried = using alt+ctrl+del but it doesn't work, i have to hit the reset button = and wait for it to go through the fsck stuff. I've tried to use apm by = typing apm -e disable then i've also tried apm -e disable -h disable -d = disable. I've even tried using apm -e enable, apm -e enable -h enable = -d enable and i still come up with the same results. does anyone have = any suggestions? ------=_NextPart_000_011E_01C170D8.793D6C80 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2600.0" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV>Kill the APM support in your BIOS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=3Dltr=20 style=3D"PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; = BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message ----- </DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: = black"><B>From:</B>=20 <A title=3Dfrogger3099@home.com=20 href=3D"mailto:frogger3099@home.com">frogger3099</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A = title=3Dquestions@FreeBSD.ORG=20 href=3D"mailto:questions@FreeBSD.ORG">questions@FreeBSD.ORG</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Sunday, November 18, 2001 = 12:10=20 AM</DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> Freebsd Crashing when = exiting=20 X</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi, I have freebsd 4.4 with gnome 1.4 = and=20 xfree86 3.3.6 when i boot up my computer everything is = fine. =20 if i idle for a little bit the screen will blank out, which is fine if = it does=20 it in the console, but if it blanks out in X i think that the kernel = is=20 crashing.
