Tcpdump provides a running, realtime display (or "dump") of all of the networking (TCP/IP) traffic on your machine, allowing you to see what remote machines are talking to yours (and vice versa), as well as what they're "saying", among other things. The output is fairly dense and not very human-friendly. In fact, there's at least one package in the ports collection that will take the output of tcpdump and render it in a more useable fashion. Odd thing for someone in the newbies list to be looking for, come to think of it. :-) -- Conrad Sabatier http://members.home.net/conrads/ ICQ# 1147270 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
