This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0021_01C0F808.C434DF00 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Load balancing w/FreeBSD. I keep reading, but never see a really good answer to this. Two Internet feeds (dls/cable) on ethernet. One FreeBSD box running: natd named squid transparent proxy ipfw dummynet Does the Linux multipath thing work with FreeBSD? I've seen the even/odd IP number idea - odd IP's go to interface1, even = IP's go to interface2. Gated? Zebra? balance? If I can't really "load balance" can I somehow tell squid to alternate = requests from each Internet port? Thanks, James Taylor jltaylor@metrotel.net ------=_NextPart_000_0021_01C0F808.C434DF00 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4611.1300" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Load balancing w/FreeBSD.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I keep reading, but never see a really = good answer=20 to this.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Two Internet feeds (dls/cable) on=20 ethernet.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>One FreeBSD box running:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>natd</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>named</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>squid</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>transparent proxy</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>ipfw</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>dummynet</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Does the Linux multipath thing work = with=20 FreeBSD?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I've seen the even/odd IP number idea - = odd IP's go=20 to interface1, even IP's go to interface2.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Gated?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Zebra?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>balance?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>If I can't really "load balance" can I = somehow tell=20 squid to alternate requests from each Internet port?</FONT></DIV></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Thanks,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>James Taylor</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><A=20 href=3D"mailto:jltaylor@metrotel.net">jltaylor@metrotel.net</A></FONT></D= IV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV></BODY></HTML> ------=_NextPart_000_0021_01C0F808.C434DF00-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
