I've tried 'em at stone-stable hardware configurations( like pure-intel servers ) - and the same problems appearing again and again. My good advice to you - use 4-STABLE with gcc40 instead of embedded one. Iit will take a couple of tries to tune your build - some CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS tricks plus -Ox tuning - it depends just on your hardware. But when you'll be done - you'll never have such a problems again. I gave up trying a new branches about three months ago - and I spent about a week to make the tunes. But now I forgot all such problems. It seems to be the only way. New branches are good and exciting - but choose what do you need more : fancy features or stability and perfomance?
