Hi all, i am new to this list and cannot find the answer to my question so i thought it may be reasonable to post here. i just built a server with dual Xeon 64bit 3.2 ghz on a SuperMicro X6DH8-G2 motherboard, 3 GB of DDRII ram, 3 Seagate SCSI HDs (RAID 5), Adaptec 2010s RAID card.

i tried to boot from FreeBSD 5.3 (amd64) installation CD and it froze when displaying "Preloading image...", then i tried booting with APCI disabled and it went fine.

after it boots into Sysintall, it cannot find any disks!

not knowing what to do... i checked the FreeBSD handbook, and noticed that it should go into kernel configuration menu before it boots, however, it didn't in this case and i dont know if this is meant to be like this.

then i attempted to install FreeBSD 4.11(i386) on the system instead, unfortunately it does not yet have one that supports amd64 platform. during startup, it went into kernel configuration menu first unlike in 5.3 (amd64), and i was able to install it without any problems. it found the SCSI disks...

does anyone else encounter such a problem with 5.3 (amd64)? any solutions?

thanks~
