Somthing like 'gpart > resize -i 1 -s 512k ada23' (untested, sub your disk). Yes, gpart fixed it. Thanks. But it’s annoying. Why is manual tinkering required here? Why isn’t it set to 512k by default? I checked the handbook (2.6.3), and it says ”the freebsd-boot partition should be no larger than 512K due to current boot code limitations” ... Joel
