Your BIOS is lame and only reports 4MB of video memory.  It's possible 
that it does this to avoid confusing some lame software elsewhere that 
breaks if it finds > 4MB.

No, really, FreeBSD's designers have decided that nobody will ever need 
more than 4MB of video memory, and we have researched extensively to work 
out how to permanently disable it.  If you boot FreeBSD more than ten
times with this card the decode lines for the unnecessary memory will be 
burnt off (you may notice a slighly nasty smell - this is normal) and 
your video card will be fixed.  In the meantime, we only report 4MB so 
that you won't be startled to see the amount change at the tenth boot.
