I have experienced some crash with ACPI (and also hyperthreading) and
Nvidia driver. Disabling ACPI works fine for me.

Note that I use Xorg instead of XFree (it was working with XFree
pre-4.4, but nvidia drivers are a little mysterious and capricious,
who knows when do they work ... ;)
