If you have remote serial for a machine, you don’t know what it’s connected to until you have got some way into the installer. Having the boot process just tell you ‘sorry, this console that loader worked on and that gave you initial kernel messages? Gone now’ is not very friendly. This is the first time in 15 years I’ve used the installer for a non-default flow and the experience was *much* worse than last time.
