Perhaps it's just the snap I'm currently running on my laptop (a Sony
Vaio R505TE), but apm isn't finding any battery plugged in. The
snapshot is from July 21st.
[jim@helios:~]$ apm
APM version: 1.2
APM Managment: Enabled
AC Line status: on-line
Battery status: unknown
Remaining battery life: unknown
Remaining battery time: unknown
Number of batteries: 0
APM Capacities:
global standby state
global suspend state
resume timer from standby
resume timer from suspend
[jim@helios:~]$
I do have apm compiled into the kernel and enabled in rc.conf. Am I
missing something obvious? The apm module in gkrellm also thinks
there's no battery (and it is indeed plugged in and fully charged).
