Redu= cing the concurrency (for example, down to 16 concurrent port builds on a machine with 56 hardware threads) the problem mostly does not appear. At the point of the failure, devel/py-wheel and devel/py-wheel044 had both completed. On a system with a successful run, the devel/py-wheel build had = not completed.
