In lists.freebsd.current you write: >How current are you? With a kernel cvsup'd on 25 Nov, I can use the oss >drivers just fine. ># cd /usr/local/lib/oss ># ./soundon >OSS/FreeBSD loading, address = f410b020 >Open Sound System is licensed for evaluation purposes only. Hmm. I'm running -current from yesterday and don't have much luck with OSS. The system wedges so hard I have to reset it, can't even get into the kernel debugger. Using my trusty old original Gravis Ultrasound this would happen immediately after starting e.g. x11amp. Using a noname CMI8330-blah card, it will work for a while (like three or four mp3 songs) and *then* wedge. So, your mileage may vary. >I'm listening to a Def Leppard cd while typing this email. >I typed soundon immediately after booting up and logging on. Are you actually *using* the card for playing sound versus just routing your cd audio through?
