Hi, I'm running FreeBSD 4.6 RELEASE on a Sony VAIO FX601 Notebook. This notebook has a VIA KT133 Chipset, the soundchip is also a via82c686 one. Every time I compile the pcm-driver into the kernel, the kernel hangs on startup after the parallel-port-probing and before the ata-device-attachement. If I remove the pcm-driver from the kernel everything works ok. I also tried to load the sound-driver as klm, but the module then doesen't find the soundcard, but the kernel finds the sound-card if the pcm-driver is staticaly compiled in. I will try to debug this, but I don't know how can I debug this, because the kernel doesen't panic, it simply hangs. I compled DDB into the kernel and I can also go into the debugger at boot time by hidding CTRL-ALT-ESC, but I don't know how I should start to debug, bye, -- -- -------------------------------------- E-mail: Michael.Bretterklieber@jawa.at ---------------------------- JAWA Management Software GmbH Liebenauer Hauptstr. 200 A-8041 GRAZ Tel: ++43-(0)316-403274-12 Fax: ++43-(0)316-403274-10 GSM: ++43-(0)676-93 96 698 homepage: http://www.jawa.at --------- privat ----------- E-mail: mbretter@inode.at homepage: http://www.inode.at/mbretter -------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
