Remember the original poster was talking about a network with > 1,000,000 subscribers so there'll probably be quite a few POPs. If there is no "sacred heart" of your network that is resilient to multiple single failures, then build 2 pairs of load balanced servers and place them at strategic locations in your core. That's 4 servers and 4 load balancers (running HA mode) and not a single point of failure in sight if it's done right. With ServerIrons going for sub $1,000 on ebay it's far cheaper and a hell of a lot easier to manage than a huge anycast solution. IMHO naturally :) Bambi ...
