A year and a half ago I bought an HP7400c scanner, mainly because it had a SCSI interface and because I had had such good luck with HP scanners in the past. When I tried to install it, HP tech support wouldn't give me even a hint as to where to find out about its SCSI command set. When it turned out not to work with most common SCSI host adapters, HP tech tech support wouldn't discuss the technical details, saying only that it worked with a particular SCSI host adapter that HP sold. I don't think I would buy another HP scanner even if it came recommended by someone I knew. Dan Strick strick@covad.net
