With Hyperthreading turned on in the Processor BIOS, I'm getting these kernel messages (and sometimes a system hang that requires a power-off restart) Dell Dimension 4600c Pentium IV HTT and a SATA hard drive ad4: TIMEOUT - READ_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=206037879 ad4: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=41943295 ad4: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=64276927 ad4: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=64283327 Mar 15 12:30:42 zeebo su: timothyk to root on /dev/ttyp2 With Hyperthreading disabled in BIOS, I have no problem. my uname -a: FreeBSD zeebo.maestro.njit.edu 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #7: Mon Mar 15 10:44:53 EST 2004 root@zeebo.maestro.njit.edu:/usr/obj/tmp/src/sys/*** i386 Thanks Tim Kellers CPE/NJIT
