In a context that sees the problem (if "trim"
is involved): using "gstat -spod" in the fast
and slow contexts and comparing might make it
obvious if there is a difference in the amount
of "d" (delete/trim) activity for similar
operations if other things like media differences
are unlikely to be contributing.
