I probably don't have enough information here to get a good response, but I experienced my first two FreeBSD kernel panics in the past two days, on two separate (but similar hardware/config) machines, both while installing -STABLE in single user mode. The first panic occured just as buildworld started. I caught it right as it was rebooting, so I did not really see the error messages. The second panic occured this afternoon on a different machine. This actually occured just after I launched mergemaster (after a make installworld). The panic message was ffs_valloc: dup alloc, apparantly on my /var filesystem. Is this perhaps a disk geometry problem? -- Christopher Farley www.northernbrewer.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
