I don't have any info about the 3com device.

I found it hard to get a real modem, in fact last time I bought a PCMCIA one I
ended up with a LT modem :)

I have managed to find a USB modem that works with freebsd, but the support is
still a bit bugger (I obtained a NetComm Roadster II).
