  I belive that Compaq uses a standard chipset of some kind of the
ethernet.  Compaq SCSI is often completely unique, especially the on-board
ones, but this one sounds like it is standard PCI card of some kind.

  Compaq machines should be your last resort for FreeBSD, and if you are
going to use them, you should be prepared to install compatibile
controllers.
