It's been 6 months since that mail, so there was no "rush in
deprecating" indeed. You should've seen this coming. I was in the same
situation as you with textproc/obsidian deprecation and it was
completely my fault that I overlooked it.

So, if you want the port to stay, assume maintainership and update it
to the recent version.
