It's RELENG_4, and I didn't apply the patch. I also tried multiple make cleans, and also deleting /usr/src/lib/libc/db/mpool and rebuilding. Same problem. I've disabled my ftpd for now, until we can figure this out. This must be a particularly amorphous code region across different systems.
