So I built an kernel based on GENERIC and the addtion of following lines options SC_PIXEL_MODE options VESA With vidcontrol MODE_324 I got 1400x1050 pixels. This works fine but if I start X11 and I try to switch back to the console the system hangs up. If the sound is enabled this is combined with a special noise. I could switch to a virtual terminal with the original resolution. But if I change the resoultion in this terminal I will get the same effect.
