Hello list, i have a problem using my D-Link DFE-550FX interface. Its inclued in the kernel and recognised correctly due boot. As long as there is no ip bound to the interface ifconfig tells me about ste0: flags=8802<BROADCAST,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:05:5d:8a:a6:2c media: Ethernet autoselect status: active and the lights at the backpannel are on. Now a simple e.g. ifconfig ste0 10.0.0.200/24 results in ste0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.0.0.200 netmask 0xffffffff broadcast 10.0.0.200 inet6 fe80::205:5dff:fe8a:a62c%ste0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 ether 00:05:5d:8a:a6:2c media: Ethernet autoselect status: no carrier I am missing something here or are there problems with this interface? Do i need to force a mode (full/half duplex *shrug*)? The switch is working (unfortunally my partner is using m$ and its working there ...). Some data: bensons:/boot/kernel# uname -v FreeBSD 5.2-RC #0: Sat Dec 13 05:00:11 CET 2003 bensons:/boot/kernel# egrep 'ste0|ukphy0' /var/run/dmesg.boot ste0: <D-Link DL10050 10/100BaseTX> port 0xec00-0xec7f mem 0xea000000-0xea0001ff irq 9 at device 11.0 on pci0 ste0: Ethernet address: 00:05:5d:8a:a6:2c miibus1: <MII bus> on ste0 ukphy0: <Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface> on miibus1 ukphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, auto There is a second interface (xl0) on miibus0 yes, but removing it wont help either... No firewall or fancy something.... Help is greatly appreciated.
