Hmm. From my 4.5-p2 RELEASE (with only / and /usr created during
install):
% ll / | grep home
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root  wheel        9 Mar  8 12:19 home@ -> /usr/home

It seems /home is actually /usr/home.
