This is probably something simple, but I am unable to log into my FreeBSD machine as root when using xdm to authenticate users. Non-root users log in as normal, but when I log in as root it obviously recognzes the password, but then the screen flashes, blanks, and returns me to the normal xdm login window. Not that I intend to log in as plain old root all that often, but I would like to at least know why it causes problems. I am running XFree86 3.1.2S on FreeBSD 2.1.5R. Thanks... Ernie Pistorhelp
