Which is another good reason for sys/compile/${MACHINE}/FOO
Otherwise where DOES the pc98 kernel builds happen? Under the
non-existant sys/pc98/ ?

Even more data that IMHO makes sys/compile/${MACHINE}/FOO make more
sense.
