Tried cuaa0? I have gotten my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8600) to talk to my phone (Nokia 8210) and Pocket PC using IRDA. I use ircomm though, ie [inchoate 10:07] ~ >sudo ircomm -d /dev/cuad1 -y /dev/ptypv -v 2 discovered Nokia 8210, address=75a2, hints=PnP, Modem, Fax, Telephony, IrCOMM, IrOBEX query completed 115200 baud LAP connected comm connected Now I can do, say, [inchoate 10:12] ~ >cu -l /dev/ttypv -s 57600 can't open log file /var/log/aculog. Connected atz OK AT+CMGF=1 OK AT+CMGS="0403070726" > testing 123 > ▒ +CMGS: 221 OK One this I have noticed is that my phone is *extremely* sensitive to positioning which is rather annoying.. It has to be 15-20cm away otherwise it won't work (closer is as bad as far away). -- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from." -- Andrew Tanenbaum GPG Fingerprint - 5596 B766 97C0 0E94 4347 295E E593 DC20 7B3F CE8C [-- Attachment #2 --] -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBC3u/i5ZPcIHs/zowRAlJ4AJ9GiPvjnhFymZaZtO5Hdjq1Sy47JgCaAmdN EeNutoae2lKg9wjm2CgRjGA= =VOM3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
