I hate to say it, but this looks like you're having the typical sig11 problems that have their own FAQ entry: http://www.freebsd.org/FAQ/troubleshoot.html#AEN1564 I assume this because this isn't a common problem, and other folks seem to be managing this upgrade without a hitch.
