You really don't want to turn the computer back on when the power
returns with a dumb UPS. The problem is that the battery in the ups
won't have any charge on it, so in the - not uncommon - event that you
get power back and it goes away shortly thereafter, you'll be shut
down with no warning. The only time in the last decade I've had a file
system fried was because of power coming back just long enough for it
to start fsck'ing - three times in a row.

Yes, but does it manage to not cut power to the computer until after
the shutdown has finished? If so, could you provide a pointer to the
documentation?
