This is where you're missing an important point. Monopoly isn't just
a word, it means that the "market" has no say in things at all. It
doesn't matter whether the market is foolish and undeserving or not,
it doesn't have a choice. The only player with any power to influence
the outcome is M$.
That's why enlightened countries have decent anti-trust law, and
realise that a free market doesn't work in a complete absence of
regulation. Ask me about NZ's telecommuncations infrastructure
sometime.
