I recently decided to upgrade from FreeBSD 4.3-RELEASE to FreeBSD
4.4-RELEASE. However, after upgrade, I can no longer boot unless I boot
kernel.prev. I'm not sure where I should look for help.

The way that I attempted the upgrade was via /stand/sysintall via passive
ftp. I now have the CD's. I figured that I could just boot to the CD and
select upgrade. But, I really kinda wanted to know what went wrong. And, I
wanted to get a second opinion (or thirty of them) before I did anything else.

I have tarred up /etc and /home, but I never feel too secure with backups.
So, I prefer to do the most uninvasive method.

Thanks,
Darren
