sorry to dig out this old thread. i just wanted to close the discussion with the following statement: the problem still exists. the problems mentioned in connection with the nvidia drivers were however just the symptoms of a more complex problem which is related to linux threading models. installing the latest nvidia drivers no longer causes this problem since the driver picks one of 2 available libs (which are being compiled against different threading models). further discussion concerning this problem should happen either under freebsd-emulation@ or as a followup to this PR: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/133144 again: the problem is not related to the nvidia drivers! the driver was merely a victim of a linuxulator bug related to linux threading! although the nvidia drivers no longer segfault the problem still exists under 8-STABLE and 9-CURRENT! cheers. alex
